Overview
Vigil is a lightless, ash-strewn world long erased from Imperial traffic and record. Its coordinates are preserved only in forbidden archives and Mechanicus under-data. Classified as a Dead World, Vigil’s crumbling surface tells of civilizations twice ended. The planet’s ecosystem is extinct; its atmosphere is thin, unstable, and steadily degrading into total unbreathability. The land is a grave of forgotten empires—haunted not by ghosts, but by the silence of things better left buried.
Historical Conflict
The first xenos civilization on Vigil flourished in pre-Imperial times, its cities spanning continents. This civilization was annihilated not by mankind, but by the Yu’vath—Warp-tainted xenos-entities of the Halo Stars. 5.000 years ago their attack scoured the surface with fire and sorcery, melting entire cities into vitrified plains and leaving behind warped relics deep below the crust.
Millennia later, drawn by hidden signals and the promise of hidden knowledge, a second alien race—the Xenos Slaugth—settled upon Vigil. Erecting a single black spire-city at the heart of the ancient ruins, they initiated massive excavation and reactivation of forgotten technologies. This provoked the attention of the Imperium. During the Dark Crusades, the Storm Wardens Space Marines descended upon Vigil and, after a brutal engagement and grievous losses, unleashed orbital bombardment that once again reduced the planet to desolation.

Imperial Status
The Ordo Xenos maintains a passive surveillance cordon, and unauthorized landings are strictly forbidden. While some within the Adeptus Mechanicus whisper of Archeotech and vaults locked with non-Euclidean geometries, no sanctioned explorator mission has been sent.
The Imperium has turned its gaze away from Vigil. It is hoped that Vigil will not return the gaze.
