STC terraforming

 

-Terraformation of uninhabitable and xeno biosphere planets was perfected during the late dark age of technology.

Stages of terraformation:

Stabilization of a planet:

Tectonic consolidation of the planet to stabilize the continents-> initial base atmosphere created with barrage of  comet bombardment -> initial bodies of water, eradication of possible xenos biosphere

Insertion of micro-life:

Tardigrade, algae, fungi and slime mold are introduced to prepared geosphere. An eradication of surviving xeno lifeforms continues, a stabilization of Terran atmosphere, a stabilization of waterways and oceans.

Insertion of plant life:

When micro-life has transmuted a planet’s surface habitable for plants first invasion species, wheat-grass and fern, are introduced to a planet. They bind ground soil for slower plant species. Introduction of hardwood and softwood. Terran atmospheric equilibrium is created and controlled by plants.

-Whole range of species were developed to co-habit and support terraforming process.
-Life forms are gene-locked key species who have wide adaptability programmed in their DNA. Gene-locked means that they do not evolve. Programmed adaptability means that life form has great variety of pre-existing genetic variables that are triggered by life forms need to adapt certain ecosystem.

-As part of their terraforming programming STC lifeforms act hostile against biome threatening agents. If a species of the biome recognizes something to be contagious/hostile towards the biome their genetic triggers are activated and species of STC biome become increasingly hostile against the threat towards the biome.

-Secrets of true terraforming were lost in the dusk of the dark age of technology but several ancient human worlds have their ecosystem based on ancient Terran STC biome. In these lesser times partial terraformation is still done by the Imperium. Problem is that secrets for starting it from the lifeless planet are lost from Imperium. But if planet already has suitable atmosphere then key species of STC biome can be introduced to xeno ecosystem. Then in a few hundred years STC lifeforms have devoured their way through alien ecosystem and annihilated xeno species. Sometimes some species of xenos ecosystem are strong enough to survive STC onslaught and develop symbiotic or competing relationship with STC biome. If xenos ecosystem is too strong introduction of invading STC species fail and lesser terraformation is not possible
