By Decree of the Holy Lords of Terra, in the name of the Most Divine God-Emperor of Mankind, whose Will doth guide the Imperium eternal, this sacred document grants the powers herein to the bearer, Sepedeus von Ulm, of House von Ulm, and their progeny, in perpetuity. And let it be known, by virtue of this Warrant, that the Imperium’s law and protection extendeth unto them, that they may serve the Throne and its Divine Purpose without hinder or grievance, and that their endeavours be safeguarded against malefactors, heretics, and all those who would conspire against the Emperor’s Will.
Warrant of Trade
In the nine hundred and seventh year of the Fortieth Millennium, let it be known to all faithful servants of the Emperor, that the High Lords of Terra, with divine authority, do bestow upon Sepedeus von Ulm the Warrant of Trade, conferring the following rights, privileges, and obligations in service to the Imperium of Man:
Binding Responsibilities
Right of Colonization
Be it known that the bearer of this Warrant, Sepedeus von Ulm, is hereby granted the august authority to claim, survey, and colonize worlds in the Emperor’s most holy name. This includes, but is not limited to, the right to establish settlements, appoint magistrates and governors, extract such resources as shall be required for the glory of the Imperium, and defend these holdings against all manner of threats, be they xenos, heretic, or other malefactors opposed to the Throne. This authority extendeth unto all domains unclaimed by rightful Imperial governance, as well as those regions that, by misfortune or ruin, hath fallen into lawless desolation.
Warp Route Charting
Sepedeus von Ulm shall be empowered to chart and claim new warp routes, opening paths through the Immaterium in service of the Imperium. August routes shall be recorded and submitted unto the benevolent authorities of the Navis Nobilite and the Adeptus Administratum, that the Imperium’s dominion be expanded, its trade made swifter, and its holy legions granted safe and rapid passage to the Emperor’s foes. Let it be further decreed that all routes discovered by the Warrant-holder shall be maintained in strictest secrecy by him, save where they be offered for the benefit of the Imperium and its duly appointed agencies. And should any blasphemer, renegade, or foe of the Imperium seek to claim or obstruct these sacred paths, it shall be the solemn duty of the Warrant-holder to see their eradication and the cleansing of their corruption.
Service of the Adeptus Mechanicus
The bearer shall owe fealty and service to the Adeptus Mechanicus, in accordance with the sacred Rites of the Omnissiah. All technological discoveries of significance, be they Standard Template Constructs, archeotech, or xenos devices of notable interest, are to be presented unto the Mechanicum. Rights of salvage and study are subject to the approval of a duly appointed representative of Mars. Furthermore, the Warrant-holder is bound by solemn oath to safeguard all Mechanicum assets and personnel encountered in the course of their duties, ensuring that no harm befalls the priests of the Machine God nor the sacred works of their order. And should any blasphemous soul dare hoard, conceal, or misuse such sacred technology, it is the sworn obligation of the Warrant-holder to rectify such heresy with righteous force.
Service of the Imperial Navy
In times of war or great need, the bearer of this Warrant shall make their vessels and forces available for the service of the Imperial Navy, recognizing that the defence of the Imperium is a solemn and binding duty. Sepedeus von Ulm is thus sworn to answer the call of the Lord Admiral when the Imperium’s wars so demand, and to contribute ships and men to the Emperor’s cause, in such manner as shall be required by the High Lords of Terra. Let it be noted that failure to meet this obligation shall be considered an act of grave dishonour, punishable by censure, revocation of privileges, and such other measures as the Imperial authorities deem necessary. And should the need be dire, the bearer is bound to pledge their fleets and men unto the Emperor’s Holy Crusades, that the enemies of Mankind may be crushed beneath the weight of Imperial might.
Privileges Conferred
The bearer of this Warrant shall be granted the following privileges, to wit:
- The power to make and break alliances with planetary governors, merchant guilds, noble houses, and, when necessity doth compel it, such xenos entities as may serve the Emperor’s will, provided always that such agreements remain within the bounds of Imperial Law and do not conflict with the dictates of the Holy Inquisition. The bearer is charged to report all such dealings to the appropriate authorities and to maintain records of all diplomatic engagements, that the Imperium may judge their merit in due course. And should any alliance prove to be false, treacherous, or corrupt, it is the duty of the Warrant-holder to ensure swift and just retribution.
- Immunity from most forms of censure or prosecution by planetary and regional authorities, save only by the command of the Inquisition, the High Lords of Terra, or such authorities as they may appoint. However, let it be known that any abuse of this privilege, any act deemed contrary to the will of the Emperor, shall be met with swift and final retribution. Let none believe that they may act outside the Emperor’s Light and yet retain the blessings of this sacred Warrant.
- The right to command Imperial military forces as necessity demands, for the proper execution of their charge and the maintenance of the Imperium’s glory. Such forces shall be levied only in strict accordance with the dictates of the Adeptus Militarum, and their use shall be recorded for review by the Imperial authorities.
- The exclusive right to levy tithes upon such colonies as may be founded under this Warrant, provided always that such tithes do not conflict with those levied by the Administratum for the greater glory of the Imperium. Such levies shall be enforced with due reverence for the Emperor’s subjects and in accordance with the prescribed laws of the Imperium, that the faithful may prosper in His light.
The Oath of Fealty
By affixing their seal and mark unto this Warrant of Trade, Sepedeus von Ulm and their successors do solemnly swear eternal loyalty unto the Imperium of Man and the Most Holy God-Emperor. Let it be known that any deviation from this oath, any act of heresy or defiance of the Emperor’s light, shall result in the immediate revocation of this charter, the forfeiture of all rights and holdings, and summary execution under the authority of the Holy Orders of the Inquisition. This oath shall be reaffirmed in solemn ceremony every century before the assembled representatives of the Imperium, that no bearer of this Warrant may forget their sacred duty.
