Rank & Authority
- The Enginseer Primaris responsible for the plasma drive system is the chief Tech-Priest overseeing the operation, maintenance, and sanctification of the Ignis Aeternus‘s primary plasma reactor and void propulsion systems.
- Holds ritual and technical dominion over the engine sanctum, reactor core chambers, and the drive plasma regulators.
- Reports directly to the Lord-Captain in matters of critical engineering stability.
- Possesses the exclusive authority to initiate, throttle, or shut down plasma flow, in accordance with Adeptus Mechanicus liturgical protocol and voidcraft operation doctrine.
- May overrule non-Mechanicus officers in situations where machine-spirit integrity, reactor stability, or drive sanctity is at stake.
Core Responsibilities
Maintenance of Plasma Drive Systems
- Oversees all functions of the ship’s plasma core, including heat regulation, sacred coolant flow, fusion chamber balance, and emission containment.
- Commands lower-ranking enginseers, reactor acolytes, servitor tech-crews, and liturgy chanters tasked with maintaining harmony within the engine cathedral.
- Executes routine and emergency reactor rites, including:
- Litany of Ignition
- Rite of the Calibrated Flame
- Canticles of Sacred Conduction
Sacred Ritual and Machine-Spirit Communion
- Performs daily benedictions to the reactor’s machine-spirit, ensuring its obedience, strength, and mercy.
- Interprets the will of the drive’s spirit through auspex readings, incense patterns, cogitator hymns, and noospheric alignment.
- Leads purification rites in the event of plasma anomalies, spirit agitation, or corrupted logic-cores.
Emergency Engine Operations
- Responsible for initiating plasma venting, thrust redirection, or core suppression during battle damage, power surges, or warp anomalies.
- Coordinates with the Void Navigator, Master Helmsman, and Master of Manouvers to ensure safe propulsion through voidspace and warp.
Security of the Engine Vault
- Maintains strict control over access to drive sanctum, permitting only tech-adepts and those bearing Mechanicus-sanctioned sigils.
- Has authority to isolate and lock down the engine chamber during incidents of sabotage, heretical tampering, or spiritual disturbance.
Instruction and Initiation
- Trains new acolyte enginseers in both technical doctrine and sacred rite.
- Approves elevation of proven adepts to higher ranks within the machine cult aboard the Ignis Aeternus.
- Acts as liaison to the Forge World support networks for long-term refit, resource demands, and sacred part acquisition.
Additional Notes
- Not responsible for non-propulsive ship systems (those fall under Magos Domina of Integrated Systems or Chief Enginseer of Secondary Operations, if present).
- Considered untouchable by uninitiated crew; non-Mechanicus personnel may not enter the engine sanctum without express blessing.
- Holds votive rank equivalent to a senior officer within the dynastic command structure, though oathbound only to the Omnissiah.
