Special

  • have the ability to launch mining probes and attack craft at short range.
  • Kin ships are heavily automated and count their Command +10 at the start of the battle. The Citadel’s Command bonus will be removed after first 10 hull integrity damage it suffers.
  • Bridge smashed critical hits will not inflict additional Leadership loss on a Demiurg ship, but instead cause an extra point of damage (and possible attendant Ld loss) on the vessel.
  • ‘Citadel’ class vessels cannot employ Come to New Heading special orders

Hidden among the more closely-guarded systems frequented by the Demiurg are vessels specialized for mining and resource harvesting. These vessels outwardly resemble Bastion vessels in all respects but vary in critical details. The volume in Bastion vessels dedicated to attack craft and broadside lances is entirely turned over to specialized resource harvesting equipment. Outwardly they resemble the more familiar but still rare Bastion commerce vessels in all respects, and only through their interaction with the Tau did some Rogue Traders become aware there was a distinction between ship types.

Advanced Warp Technology

  • Superior Warp Drives and Gellar Field Generators: The Kin’s starships are equipped with Warp Drives and Gellar Field generators of exceptional design and reliability, surpassing those used by the Imperium of Man.
  • Ironkin Wayfinders: Instead of relying on human Navigators, the Kin employ specialized self-aware robotic entities known as Ironkin Wayfinders. These advanced machines possess accelerated logic cores, enabling them to calculate safe paths through the Warp without the need for psychic navigation.
  • Controlled Warp “Plunges”: The Kin prefer a methodical approach to Warp travel, conducting short, controlled jumps referred to as “plunges.” During these plunges, they may harvest energy from the Immaterium or salvage materials from space hulks. While this technique results in longer travel times compared to the vast Warp jumps of Imperial vessels, it ensures that Kin ships arrive at their intended destinations with unparalleled accuracy and safety.

GRAVITY ANCHOR Power: 1 Space: 1 SP: +1
The establishment of new Squat Holds in the Tiji Sector has seen the return many types of Squat technology, brought from the destruction of the original Homeworlds by the Tyranids. Of these, the most desired amongst spacefarers is the Gravity Anchor. Squats come from a high gravity world, and their mastery of it is without equal.
Anchors Aweigh: A Squat Gravity Anchor can be equipped to any Light Cruiser or higher class of voidship, allowing the vessel to make a one 90° turn in void combat instead of the 45° it is normally limited to. It takes one day to recharge the gravity anchor.

HALL OF GRUDGES Power: 1 Space: 1 SP: +1
The peculiar mindset of the Squat allows for no slight to be forgotten. Individual Squats often record their troubles and woes inflicted upon them by others in personal Books of Grudges. When entire crews recount their grudges together, it can often fill an entire hold in itself. The Hall of Grudges allows a crew to meditate on these past troubles, and reaffirm their hatred of the enemy.
No Grudge Unpunished: A Squat Hall of Grudges can be equipped to any class of Imperial voidship. Characters can spend one hour meditating on the wrongs inflicted on them by any group they have encountered previously. Upon completion of the meditation, they gain the Hatred talent for that particular group, and may apply the Hatred bonus to shooting in Starship Combat. The effects last for one full day, at the end of which the character calms down, and may meditate anew, on a separate enemy if desired.

ION CANNON
Granted to the Tau by the Demiurg, the Ion Cannon acts as a Lance weapon that can vaporize multiple components with a sweep.
Vaporization: When this component rolls a 1 or 2 on the crit chart, it affects 2 components rather than 1.

Demiurg Bastion class ships are heavily automated and count their Ld value as 9 at the
start of the battle. The Bastion’s Ld will drop by -1 for each point of damage the Bastion
suffers, but its Ld value will not drop any further than 5.

  • Bridge smashed critical hits will not inflict additional Leadership loss on a Demiurg ship,
but instead cause an extra point of damage (and possible attendant Ld loss) on the vessel.
  • A Bastion class vessel is worth 255 Victory points normally but in a pure Demiurg fleet
or one fighting against Orks it is worth 300 Victory points instead to reflect its extra
determination. This does not affect its starting point cost.
  • Demiurg ‘Bastion’ class vessels cannot employ Come to New Heading orders.
  • The dorsal launch bays may launch either attack craft or torpedoes if reloaded but may
not launch both attack craft and torpedoes in the same turn.

More common than the larger Stronghold class, Demiurg Bastions are nonetheless only occasionally sighted in the giant vastness of wilderness space along the eastern rim of the galaxy.
Bastion class vessels appear to be more heavily configured for asteroid mining than the stately Stronghold, which is known to function as a factory/processor. Presumably resources and finished goods are exchanged between these vessels but there are no eye witness reports of such. Scattered reports by Rogue Traders indicate that a Bastion class vessel is crewed by a ‘brotherhood’ and that Strongholds are homes to typically
