“Ignis Aeternus” Barracks

Carved into the reinforced hull strata of the Ignis Aeternus, the barracks complex spans multiple armored decks and bulkhead-sealed corridors on lower deck. More than just a housing space, it is a fortress-within-a-voidship—a crucible for drilling, arming, and disciplining up to 10,000 Imperial personnel.

General Layout

The barracks are laid out in a tiered modular structure, comprising:

  • Dormitory Halls – triple-tiered bunks, austere steel rows, communal hygiene arrays
  • Mess Halls – equipped with nutrient reprocessors, auto-stew kettles, and sermon vox
  • Armory Vaults – climate-sealed racks of lasguns, shotguns, shock weapons, flak armor
  • Training Decks – vast chamber spaces for melee drills, tactical exercises, and team maneuvers
  • Fighting Cages – enclosed combat pits for sanctioned duels, sparring, and morale regulation

Walls are clad in matte black steel, embossed with unit crests and purity edicts. Floor plating bears yellow hazard chevrons and saints’ litanies engraved beneath grates, worn smooth by countless boots.

Armory Vaults

Four secured vaults flank the barracks’ inner span. Within are:

  • Racks of standard-issue lasguns and shock batons
  • Specialist lockers for breaching gear, grav-charges, flamers, and boarding shields
  • Servo-racks for powerpacks, targeters, and auspex calibrators
  • Genecode locks restrict access to quartermasters and command staff only

Training Grounds

A massive internal void-sim chamber simulates various terrain via modular deck panels—urban, trench, hull breach with varied gravity and atmosphere.

Includes:

  • Ranged target gantries with rotating obscuration screens
  • Climbing walls and reinforced obstacle circuits
  • Vox caster systems that cycle through motivation sermons and Tactica Imperialis excerpts.

Fighting Cages

For close-quarters and morale control, the fighting cages serve as sanctioned arenas for:

  • Regulated sparring
  • Rank-settling disputes
  • Punitive blood-duels under Commissarial supervision

Constructed of impact-shielded ceramite bars with auto-seal gates and medicae hatches.

Capacity and Command Integration

  • Housing Capacity: Up to 10,000 troopers in standard rotation
  • Barracks Command: Overseen by the Master of Arms and Barracks Prefectus, linked via vox-line to the central bridge command

Dormitories include tiered bunking with basic devotional niches, personal lockers, and lavatories separated by rank.

Atmosphere & Discipline

This is no haven—it is a military camp. Vox-grilles constantly echo with drill commands and prayers of absolution.
Inscribed above the main ingress hatch to the barracks reads:

“Strength through Unity. Purity through Pain. Obedience unto Death.”
